Please check the size. These are miniature pots, about 1.1 inches — smaller than most people picture when they read “flower pot.” They are sized for a place setting, not for growing a plant on indefinitely. Guests can start seeds in the pot and move the seedlings out to the garden or a larger container as they grow.

Some assembly required. Favors ship as components, not put together. Please allow time for this before your date.

Real clay, not plastic

These pots are genuine terracotta clay — breathable, with the weight and texture of a real little planter rather than a nursery pot.

A note on color and trim

Packets and tags are printed in small batches, so the exact shade varies from run to run and from the photographs on screen. Pots, bags, ribbon and tags are bought in small lots and will vary as well. Clay is a natural material, so colour and finish vary a little from pot to pot. If you need more than one order for the same event, place a single order so everything comes from the same run.

Wildflowers included

Inside the packet: a 28-variety Florida wildflower blend featuring 11 annual and 17 perennial or biennial varieties, selected to create a colorful succession of flowers while providing valuable forage for bees, butterflies and other pollinators.

The flowers illustrated on the packet are decorative artwork and are not a species list for the mix.

Because seeds and plants are natural products, germination and final flower combinations will vary.

Planting Guide

When to plant. In Florida and other warm climates, sow during the cooler growing season when adequate moisture is available. In colder regions, sow after the danger of hard frost has passed, or follow locally appropriate wildflower-sowing timing.

Choose your site. Select an area receiving approximately 6+ hours of direct sunlight per day. Good soil contact and drainage matter more than rich soil.

Prepare the soil. Remove weeds, grass, leaves and other debris. Loosen the top layer of soil and rake the planting area relatively smooth. Wildflower seed performs best when it makes direct contact with bare soil.

Sow. Scatter seeds evenly over the prepared surface. Because many wildflower seeds are very small, they should not be deeply buried. After sowing, gently press or tamp the seeds into the soil. A very light covering is appropriate for larger seeds, but avoid burying the entire mixture deeply.

Water. Water gently after planting so the seeds remain in place. Keep the upper soil consistently moist — not waterlogged — during germination and early establishment. Once established, gradually reduce watering. Mature water requirements vary among the different species and according to weather and climate.

Germination. Because this is a multi-species wildflower blend, the flowers will not all germinate or bloom at the same time. Some varieties emerge quickly while others take longer. That staggered growth is part of the garden.

After blooming. Allow some spent flowers to remain and mature if you would like the garden to naturally reseed. Once seed has matured, spent growth can be trimmed back as appropriate for your climate.

These are real terracotta clay pots, not plastic. Clay is heavier and more fragile than a nursery pot, so handle and pack with care when setting your tables.
