Valhalla Hall Pollinator & Heirloom Seed Farm is a family-run farm in Marion County, Florida, built around a simple belief: some things are worth preserving.
At the heart of the farm is a love for heirloom seeds and the history, diversity, and independence they represent. These are varieties that have been grown and passed from one generation to the next, connecting today’s gardens with the people who cultivated them before us. By growing heirloom and open-pollinated varieties, Valhalla Hall helps keep those seeds—and the stories behind them—in cultivation.
Growing More Than a Garden
Valhalla Hall is a working homestead where gardens, animals, pollinators, and people are all part of the same living landscape.
The farm grows a diverse assortment of vegetables, flowers, herbs, and pollinator-friendly plants while continually learning which varieties thrive in Florida’s unique growing conditions. Growing from seed, observing plants through the seasons, harvesting, and saving seeds are all part of life here.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s learning from the land, becoming better growers, and sharing what we learn along the way.
A Farm Full of Life
Animals have always been an important part of Valhalla Hall. Chickens, goats, ducks, geese, peacocks, miniature donkeys, bees, and other farm residents make this much more than a place where seeds are grown.
Each contributes to the rhythm and character of the farm—from pollination and natural pest control to vegetation management, eggs, companionship, and, occasionally, a healthy dose of chaos.
We believe animals should be cared for thoughtfully and humanely, with respect for the role they play within the larger farm ecosystem.
A Place for Pollinators
Pollinator conservation is woven into the identity of Valhalla Hall.
Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other beneficial species are essential to healthy gardens and diverse ecosystems. Throughout the farm, flowering plants and habitat are incorporated to provide food and shelter for the pollinators that make so much of what grows possible.
That commitment extends to the seeds we offer. We want to help more gardens become places where pollinators can find something blooming, feeding, and growing.
Preserving the Skills Along With the Seeds
Self-sufficiency isn’t just about having seeds stored away. It’s about knowing what to do with them.
Growing food, saving seed, composting, caring for animals, improving soil, managing pests, protecting livestock, and adapting when something doesn’t go according to plan are skills learned through experience.
Valhalla Hall exists in part to share that experience. Through growing information, farm notes, educational resources, and practical guidance, we hope to make these skills more approachable for people who want to grow more of their own food, support pollinators, or simply become more connected to what happens outside their back door.
Why Heirlooms Matter
An heirloom seed is small enough to hold in your hand, but it carries something much larger.
It represents generations of selection, cultivation, adaptation, and sharing. When an old variety disappears from cultivation, recovering it isn’t always possible. Keeping heirlooms growing helps maintain the diversity available to future gardeners and growers.
That’s why we believe preservation happens in the garden, not just in storage.
