Inside is a 45-variety fall wildflower mix: 20 annuals, 3 biennials and 22 perennials, chosen so color arrives the first season while the longer-lived flowers settle in for the ones after. The blend includes zinnias, sulphur cosmos, baby's breath, crimson clover, blanket flower, blue flax and calendula, among many others, and it was put together with pollinators in mind — bees, butterflies and other beneficial visitors find something in bloom across a long stretch of the year.
Sow in autumn and let the seed spend winter outdoors, or wait for spring. Either way, give it a sunny spot, press it into good contact with the soil, and keep the ground moist while it establishes. Because the mix is so varied, different flowers come up and bloom at different times.
